A member of the Donner Party, Patty Reed, 8 years old, carried a tiny wooden "Dolly" from Springfield to California. When the Reed wagon was abandoned, Patty was supposed to leave everything behind. At the last minute, she tucked her Dolly into her pocket, and had Dolly to confide in during the bitter, snowbound winter. Here, the last member of the Donner Party relates the story as the doll recalls it.
